🚨 Scam Alert: Don’t Click That “Unauthorized Charge” Text
Scammers have been sending text messages that look like they’re from your Financial Institution for a long time now. One of the latest tricks is a text that says something like:
“Topside-FCU: Did you charge $332.54 At Stripe MAX, POS #11332, If Not You, Please View: sketchyURL.com/thisistotallyfake”
The link looks urgent and official, but it’s actually a trap. Clicking could send you to a fake website designed to steal your personal information, login credentials, or even install malware on your device.
How to Protect Yourself:
Don’t click suspicious links. If you’re unsure, open your banking app or type the official website directly into your browser.
Verify the source. Call the direct number for your Financial Institution—not the one in the text.
Look for red flags. Scammers often use urgent language, bad grammar, or strange web addresses.
Enable account alerts. Our MyCards feature notifies you every time your card is charged.
If you ever get a message about an “unauthorized charge,” pause before you click. Staying cautious can keep your personal information—and your money—safe.
