Trusted Contact
Helping You Stay Protected: Add a Trusted Contact
Sometimes, financial institutions notice warning signs — like unusual account activity or difficulty reaching you — that might suggest fraud, a health emergency, or another situation that could affect your financial well-being. At Topside, we’re committed to protecting you, and one way we do that is by offering the option to name a Trusted Contact.
A Trusted Contact is someone you choose — such as a close friend, adult child, or another trusted individual — who we can reach out to only in certain situations, if we’re concerned about your safety or your finances, and we’re unable to contact you directly.
Here’s how it works:
Imagine a member named Topper lists his adult daughter as his Trusted Contact. He gives Topside written permission to contact her only if we suspect something serious — like fraud — and can’t get in touch with him.
One day, Topside detects a large, unexpected transaction on Topper’s account. After trying to call and email him with no success, we contact his daughter. She lets us know Topper recently had a health issue and isn’t able to answer his phone.
With that knowledge, Topper’s daughter might be able to:
Check in on him in person to ask about the transaction
Visit a Topside branch with him to help sort things out
Help him report fraud if necessary, and plan how to prevent future problems
(She would not have access to any of Topper’s account details unless he gives permission.)
Because Topper chose to name a Trusted Contact ahead of time, he gets timely support when it matters most — and his money stays protected.
Why consider a Trusted Contact?
Choosing a Trusted Contact gives you peace of mind. If an emergency arises and you’re unable to respond, we’ll already know who you trust to help. That person won’t be able to make changes to your account or access your money — they’re simply someone we can notify when something doesn’t seem right.
You’re always in control. You can:
Choose someone you trust, like a family member, friend, or professional advisor
Update or remove your Trusted Contact at any time
Ask us to explain when and how we might reach out to your Trusted Contact
If you ever have questions about privacy, family dynamics, or your financial independence, please don’t hesitate to talk to a Topside Member Service Representative. We’ll walk you through everything.
A few things to keep in mind:
Your Trusted Contact is not a joint account holder, power of attorney, or authorized signer.
They can’t see your account, make decisions, or conduct transactions.
Topside is not required to contact your Trusted Contact, but may do so at our discretion if we believe it’s in your best interest.
This support is optional — you can add or remove a Trusted Contact at any time by filling out our Trusted Contact Form.
Ready to appoint a trusted contact? Fill out this form and drop it off at a branch or contact us to sign it electronically.
By naming a Trusted Contact, you give Topside permission to reach out to someone you trust — only if it’s truly necessary — to help keep your financial life safe and secure.
